Abstract

Hydro and Agro Informatics Institute (Public Organization) or HAII has a mission to plan and manage water resources. The institute wants to develop equipment used in their survey to help collect data from a high angle. Institute of Field Robotics (FIBO) collaborated with Dr. Annop Rueangwiset and the research team from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering to complete the design and construction of the small airplane without a pilot to help explore the area from the high angle. The unmanned aircraft is used to help track and plan installation and optimization missions for telemetry systems, and for natural resource management, pre and post-disaster conditions, and high-resolution mapping.

(Phase 2) Aerial photography is an option that helps develop efficient natural resource management. Normally, satellite imagery is used for data collection. However, it is expensive, the image resolution is low, and images cannot be recorded in the areas with a thick atmosphere. Aerial photography provides higher resolution but the cost is high. Institute of Field Robotics (FIBO) has developed the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle: UAV to serve Hydro and Agro Informatics Institute (Public Organization) or HAII. The project continued the research and development to improve the energy efficiency of UAV to provide a longer flight and equipment to support operations.
