Private sectors join hands with FIBO in developing FACO: The FIBO Against COVID-19 Robotics Platform

Forms Syntron (Thailand) Co., Ltd.; Cisco Systems (Thailand) Ltd.; Advanced Information Technology PCL; and Institute of FIeld roBOtics (FIBO), King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT) intensely collaborate for the development of the medical robotics platform “FIBO AGAINST COVID-19: FACO”. FACO aims at helping physicians and medical staffs who are now taking care of the patients infected with COVID-19 during the outbreak of coronavirus in Thailand.

Joining up the project, these companies help supporting the development of the robotics system platform including;

  1. Forms Syntron (Thailand) Co., Ltd. and Advanced Information Technology PCL generously support the development of the platform in terms of budget and equipment in total 3 million baht and 1 million baht respectively.
  2. Cisco Systems (Thailand) Ltd. donates a state-of-the-art video conference equipment – a high definition camera.
  3. Forms Syntron (Thailand) Co., Ltd., as a professional company in digital platform development, provide the best designers to work with FIBO’s engineers and researchers to develop a practical digital platform of FACO, aiming towards further commercially Medical Service Platforms.

The first ‘FACO’ robotics system will be launched at the Ramathibodi Hospital around the beginning of April 2020. More of philanthropists, in addition, have also pledged to the institute by offering the budget for two additional FACO platforms for hospitals in need within the middle of April 2020. Subsequently, FIBO will hand out, without charges, all engineering drawings to approximately 20 system integrator companies under the Thai Automation and Robotics Association (TARA) for the mass production at cost to keep up with the urgent needs of the hospitals.
