Remote Sluice Gate Control System Installation Project

Implemented for: Hydro and Agro Informatics Institute (Public Organization)

The Hydro and Agro Informatics Institute (Public Organization) recognized a critical gap in flood prevention infrastructure. While the Royal Irrigation Department had completed the construction of sluice gates, these vital structures lacked the necessary equipment for continuous management. Operations largely relied on local personnel managing the gates based on orders from supervisors, which often led to delays in responding to rapidly changing situations.
To address this, the Institute assigned the Institute of Field Robotics (FIBO) the task of designing, building, and installing remote control equipment for 70 sluice gates in the central and metropolitan regions of Thailand. The objective of this project is to enable remote control of the sluice gates or allow them to operate automatically under specific conditions. This initiative aims to facilitate more timely management of the gates and maximize the utilization of existing infrastructure, leveraging its full potential for water management.
