FIBO Supports Quality of Life for Persons with Disabilities: Developing Research to Create Opportunities and Equality

FIBO showcased its CARVER robot with a VR-AVATAR system at the press conference for the “Expansion of the Higher Education Network Project for the Development of Persons with Disabilities for Vocational Training.” This initiative uses a training-internship model for persons with disabilities, spearheaded by King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT).
The press conference took place on May 9, 2567 (2024), at the Auditorium on the 7th floor of the Knowledge Exchange (KX) Building. The Department of Empowerment and Development of Quality of Life for Persons with Disabilities (DEP), under the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security (MSDHS), collaborated with KMUTT and five network universities: Chiang Mai University, Khon Kaen University, Prince of Songkla University, Suan Dusit University (Suphan Buri Campus), and King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang. This partnership supports the pilot expansion of the disability training and internship model to sustainably develop the potential of persons with disabilities for vocational careers.
During the event, the KMUTT-FIBO team, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Siam Charoensri, Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs at KMUTT, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Supachai Wongbunyong, Director of FIBO, provided an opportunity for a student with disabilities to remotely control the CARVER robot via the internet from the 7th floor of the KX Building. The robot delivered snacks to Mr. Varawut Silpa-archa, Minister of Social Development and Human Security, who was conversing with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Suvit Tia, President of KMUTT, on the 1st floor. Following this, the Minister visited the exhibition booth, commending the team for their development work.
