The 5th International Data Storage Technology Conference (DST-CON 2013)

The 5th International Data Storage Technology Conference (DST-CON 2013) was held at the Sukosol Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand during 14-15 February 2013 organized by Advance Technology Center for manufacturing (@M), FIBO, KMUTT. In the conference, participants from HDD industries, academic researchers from many institutions and government clusters met up to exchange knowledge and ideas for new developments, problem-solving solutions and effective practical methods in HDD industry. There were selected 20 publications presented in the conference, covering in different areas from material sciences, design and simulation, system integration, process and manufacturing aspects to production and logistics management. There were 3 plenary lectures and 2 invited papers from renowned keynote speakers including

  • Mr. Sanchai Thongjantar, Director of Advanced Manufacturing Engineering | Seagate Technology Thailand Ltd. “Scalable Manufacturing”
  • Mr.Kah Choong Loo, Sr. Director of SF and HGA Development, Western Digital | Magnetic Head Operation (MHO) Asia “Technology – Solution to Future HDD Business”
  • Dr. Jen-Yuan (James) Chang, ASME Fellow & Associate Professor Department of Power Mechanical Engineering National Tsing Hua University, Taiwan “Servo-Mechanical Integration for High Precision Hard Disk Drives”

 

  • Invited paper: Santi Maensiri, PhD

School of Physics, Institute of Science, Suranaree University of Technology Structure and  Magnetic Properties Of ZnO-Based and Ceo2-Based  Dilute Magnetic Oxide Nanostructures”

  • Invited paper: Siridech Boonsang, PhD

College of data storage innovation and Faculty of Engineering, King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang “Environmental Effects on the HDD’s Slider Flying Performance”

On the second day of the conference, there were workshops on machine condition monitoring by National Instrument, machine vision by WJ Technology, and Promodel by Fibo offered for those who had enrolled the courses online.
